Carlsbad Caverns

From our recent visit to New Mexico.  Growing up in Roswell, I saw Carlsbad Caverns every year and totally took it for granted.  This was the first time for my boys who were finally both at an age that we figured they could stay engaged with a cave for a few hours and could also manage the hike.  They did really well and it was great for me to experience it through their new-to-it-all eyes.  Unfortunately, the self-guided tour isn't as good as it was in my youth.  They've closed off the King's Palace (which has some of the most stunning rock formations) to all but guided tours because apparently people had damaged so much of it.  If you go, I highly recommend springing for the guided tour; it's relatively cheap and the King's Palace alone is worth the price.
